Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) our indoor air we breathe can be up to as many as 100 times more polluted than the outdoor air. One third of our national health care costs are directly attributable to indoor air pollution (American Medical Association).

There are a myriad of potential causes from cleaning chemicals to off-gassing from building materials to pets. This is a very serious health problem in the United States contributing to chronic respiratory problems, allergies, sinus infections fatigue, cancer and Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). The good news is generally these problems are detectible and easily correctable with the right technology.

Here are some disturbing facts and figures on Indoor Air Quality (IAQ):

72 trillion allergens can find their way into your home daily!

1 cubic foot of indoor air can contain as many as 30 million pollutants!

The average person inhales 2 heaping teaspoons of dust and carcinogenic materials daily!

The average American home collects 2 pounds of dust per week!

An ounce of dust can hold 40,000 dust mite carcasses and waste!

98% of airborne particles are smaller than 1 micron!

Typical airborne particulates can be .3 microns in size. Put into perspective 14,000 .3 micron particles would fit into the period at the end of this sentence.

Only 10% of American homes have efficient air cleaning systems!

The list of potential problems is long and can include carbon monoxide, uncontrolled humidity levels, excessive temperature fluctuations, odors, chemicals, dust, mold/fungi, viruses, pollen, radon and bacteria.

By placing a sensitive air monitor in your home a comprehensive report can be produced clearly showing the quality of your indoor air. From that report potential problems can be identified and corrected.
